A few weeks ago I was intrigued by a photo showing explosions at the point where overhead cables are attached to support pylons.
I asked for comment on whether the circumstance was a consequence of an electrical fault or intentional? I asked since I considered that the circumstance had to be intentional since, if due to an electrical fault how could the camera capture such a photograph at the instance of manifestation of the fault?
So I have now come across this video published by BC Hydro, which exhibits a similar circumstance where explosive (Detonating cord) is used to crimp or swage, two large overhead cables together.

I understand that it is preferable and efficient to swage the cables from tower to tower after they have been strung rather than on the ground since the cables are strung in sections.
